Ceramics

36 × 21 × 20.5 cm

Taking found footage of a ballet examination sequence as inspiration, the artist builds a ceramic sculpture with motion capture technology. Every gesture of the dancers is meticulously converted into motion data. Fluid dynamic images crystallise into a structural and tangible sculpture that visualises the dancers’ body orientation and spatial awareness.

藝術家衍用芭蕾舞考試片段並結合動態捕捉技術,創作陶瓷雕塑。舞者每個舉止動作都被轉化為精密的數據。流動影像從此定格,成為有形的結構,顯現舞者對於空間定位的觸覺。

This work is showcased in “DeNormalled", exhibited at WURE AREA.

Deriving from audio routing technicalities of a patchbay, DeNormalled epitomises the pivotal role ‘wiring’ plays in reconfiguring signal flows from input to input, to brew a new concoction of creative juices.

Led by random pairings, 12 local artists encounter one another’s distinct artistic medium and subject interest, distancing from one’s all-too-familiar feedback. Rounds of plugging, patching and rerouting underway, the colourful noises of interruptions set in to de-normal the artists’ usual outputs, and transport them to an open configuration.
